Summertime Aikido

Hello fine people! Well summertime is upon us. This is the time of year where many of us have vacations, and some of us this year will have staycations. Whichever you will have, you can use your Aikido to make it a great summer. If you go on vacation out of town, ask me for practices that you can focus on while away. Even if it is just 5 minutes a day, it will make a big difference in your Aikido. Setting a goal for the summer is also a great way to move up in your abilities. The founder of Aikido always had an intention of developing to higher levels.

This week at the Dojo:

***All week focused classes on getting better at Aikido!

***Tuesday: 11am morning class for the youth, teen, and family class! The following dates are for the Summer Tuesday morning schedule: June 15th, 22nd,29th. July 6th, 27th. August 3rd, 10th, 17th. Take advantage of our expanded schedule this year!

***Saturday: Women’s class at 11am.

Coming attractions: Saturday June 26th Aiki-Weapons seminar in the park with watermelon. 9:30am till 11ish.

WOW!!

WOW, We had a great internal seminar taught by our black belts this past weekend! There was so much unified power going on! And the black belt tests were awesome! If you didn’t make it to the seminar, no problem, we will be doing another one this year, don’t miss it! Unified power is one of the traits talked about in the book, “Aikido and The Dynamic Sphere”. Let’s focus on “Unified Power” this week by practicing the following ways; really acknowledge the practice that we are doing, feel the power of every student in the room, and keep your mind-body and energy consistent through out the training. YEE HAH!

This week’s schedule:

***Monday, today: Teen Deshi/leadership training at 4:40pm

***Monday, today: Adult Deshi/leadership training today at 6pm

***Wednesday: it is Train at Your Level Day in all of the classes

***Wednesday: Advanced seminar for the ranks of 2nd and 1st Kyus.

***Thursday: Japanese language class, 4 sessions June 10th, June 17th, July 8th, July 15th.

Friday: Youth and Teen Movie Night, we will have class at 6pm, and after class have a movie, pizza, popcorn and fun. This event is open to your friends! (They just need to sign a waiver) the 6pm class is open to all students, adult students as usual.

Let’s have a wonderful week of training! Vince Sensei

Beginners Mind

Good morning good Aikido people. I would like to talk about beginner's mind. This principle is very important, many of you have heard me talk about before, because I had heard it talked about before many times while I was living in Japan. It's all about staying open, open to the training, open to your thinking, open to how you go about things. This week we will be trying some new things and practicing some traditional things, and I would just like to ask everyone to keep your beginner's mind, thank you.
