IRIMI

Hello fine people. Irimi is the art of entering to a position that is safe for you, and at the same time safe for your attacker. By entering to this position it is your job to neutralize their aggression and save the day! Yea baby, save the day! Aikido without chivalry is like apple pie without the apples.

This week at the Dojo:

***Monday, Today: It is “TRAIN AT YOUR LEVEL DAY” IN ALL OF THE CLASSES!


***Monday, Today: Intermediate seminar for the ranks of 4th and 3rd Kyus. Don’t miss it!!


***Saturday: Weapons in the Park. We will practice suburi and the 13 Jo Kata, and partner practice. Delicious watermelon and conversations to follow. All levels of students will benefit.

Kansha

Good Morning fine people. I just got back from an intensive seminar with Anno Sensei from the Shingu Dojo. He is a very inspirational teacher that is 80 years old. The word that he kept stressing for the of the seminar attendees was Gratitude. (kansha in Japanese) In Aikido we want to have an attitude for ourselves and all of our training partners of gratitude. Let’s practice gratitude this week with good Aikido.

This week at the Dojo:
***Monday, today: It is Train at Your level day in all of the classes.
***Monday, today: Black Belt Seminar 12noon, and 7pm
***Monday. today: Teen Deshi Training today 4:30pm
***Monday, today: Adult Deshi program 6pm
***Monday, Today: Parent’s meeting; we will talk about the water battle.

***Tuesday: Regular schedule only. 11am youth-teen-family class OFF TODAY, starts back on Tuesday July 27th.

***Wednesday: TRAIN AT YOUR LEVEL DAY IN ALL CLASSES
***Wednesday: Advanced seminar at 12 noon, and 7pm 2nd and 1st Kyus

Summertime special class. Thursday July 15th at 5pm WATER BATTLE CLASS AND BAR- B- Q!!! Talk about water sports, we will break out the Hose and other water devices and have a water battle the likes you never seen! Simultaneously Parents will be Bar-B-Qing so that we have some grub after our joyous hard work. Please wear clothes that can get wet, a towel, and the readiness to get wet and have fun.

***Saturday: Women’s class at 11am after the regular Saturday class.

Water Sports

Good morning fine people! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Today I would like to talk about WATER SPORTS. Aikido is definitely a water sport! Feel the power of water that is like a wave that flows up from the ground. Feel the circle of a whirlpool when you are moving with your partner. Feel your body move with the fluidity of water. In the Thursday 7pm class we will work on the power of water! All week we will use the power of water to develop our Aikido! Bring your wet suit, I mean GI, to the Dojo and get ready to surf.

**Monday, Today; Regular schedule today in all of the classes. WE ARE OPEN! The train at your level day is postponed to next Monday the 12th, and we will have the Deshi training, Black Belt seminar, and the Teen deshi training all on the 12th.

***Tuesday: 11am special Youth, Teen, and Family class.

***Tuesday: 4:30 pm Youth Deshi Program training.
